WATCH: Does Neal Brown have an alpha receiver in 2024?
West Virginia is not a place that struggles to produce star receivers. Stedman Bailey, Tavon Austin, Kevin White, Gary Jennings, David Sills. That's just a selection from the Big 12 Era ... and it omits a few other names, like Mario Alford, Ka'Raun White and Shelton Gibson. Yet in head coach Neal Brown's five seasons, the offense hasn't had a receiver catch 70 passes, reach 1,000 yards or score 10 touchdowns. Six Mountaineers caught 70 or more passes, seven had 1,000-yard seasons and nine had double-digit touchdown catches in the eight seasons before that.
