Boston, Massachusetts, Waterfront Welcomes Cool and Interactive Outdoor Space
Boston's waterfront isn't the one that we or our parents remember. Not that long ago in the '60s and '70s, it was a vast, industrial-looking space with just a couple of restaurants that seemed a little out of place (Jimmy's and Anthony's Pier 4) . The smoky bars seemed to fit in just fine, and they were filled with nefarious-looking people (not that I'm judging).

Massachusetts House passes home equity legislation
Malden delegation voted to protect property owners from “equity theft”. On June 26, 2024, the Massachusetts House of Representatives unanimously passed H.4791, An Act relative to municipal tax lien procedures and protections for property owners in the Commonwealth. This bill seeks to align current Massachusetts statute with a recent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court while addressing the issue of delinquent tax collections – or so-called “equity theft.” The legislation secures the rights of property owners to reclaim any excess equity to which they are entitled after all taxes and fees are repaid to the municipalities following a tax foreclosure, while substantially increasing notifications and other protections for property owners throughout the foreclosure process. On June 27, the Massachusetts Senate referred the bill to its committee on Ways and Means.

Commentary: Blue Hill Avenue rises and falls, so let’s redesign it accordingly
Five years ago, I began taking weekly walks on Blue Hill Avenue for the purpose of seeing the state of anything and everything for public services, streetscapes, types of businesses, housing types, who is walking or using walking-aids/wheelchairs, biking, trucks, cars, scooters, buses, and its physical appearance. My roundtrip route takes me across Cummins Highway, crossing both sides of Blue Hill Avenue, from the front of the Brothers Deli & Restaurant at Mattapan Square to the Madhouse Cafe at Dudley St and Blue Hill Ave (9 miles) and back to my starting point. I have walked alternative routes where I follow the outline of the Greater Mattapan Zoning Boundaries, which is about 10.6 miles.
