High school football roundup: Napoleon edges Defiance in overtime
NAPOLEON — George Eggers rushed for 80 yards, had 65 yards receiving, and scored five touchdowns total as Napoleon eked out a 35-34 overtime victory Friday night against Defiance. The Wildcats’ victory was among a slate of nonconference encounters as area teams kicked off the first Friday night of the Ohio high school football season. The sophomore scored the game-winning run in the extra period on a 5-yard scamper. Defiance had a chance to win the game in regulation after Abel Rubio bulldozed his way into the end zone to make it 28-28 with 18 seconds left in the fourth quarter, but Bulldogs kicker Nicasio Hall missed the extra point wide left to force OT.

(Howell, MI)-- WHAC teams don't normally play each other in August, but that is what happened Saturday, as the Cleary Cougar men's soccer team hosted the Defiance College Yellow Jackets in a WHAC contest at Lake Trust Stadium. Lady Pirates Soccer Start Season With a Win & a Loss
On Tuesday Continental High Girls soccer took to the road for their season opener. Host Delphos Jefferson provided the first competition for the Pirates and the two teams went scoreless the first half. The Pirates ended the stalemate with 21:47 left in the game when Ava Sheeter put one in the back of the net off a pass from Makenzie Shock. The Wildcats made it 2-0 Pirates when they scored an own goal with 7:15 left in the game.

METAMORA (August 22, 2024) - For much of the second half, Evergreen stayed ahead of Liberty Center by a slim 1-0 margin thanks to the goalkeeping of Ellie Nash.
