Four Brooklyn High School Students Win Scholarships To Summer Acting Program
The Terry Knickerbocker Studio has awarded scholarships to four students from Brooklyn's Uncommon Charter High School to its Summer Acting Intensive for High School Students. The Studio's programs are typically focused on college-level or older students, including many professionals refining their craft throughout their careers. Yet, in order to engage the next generation of theatre artists, the Studio has added a two-week, intensive, conservatory-style program to enable high school students to hone their acting skills, cultivate their unique voices, and prepare for the future.

Brooklyn Music School survives funding crisis after emergency campaign
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — AFTER AN EMERGENCY FUNDRAISER, Brooklyn Music School, a century-old Downtown Brooklyn institution, announced on Saturday that generous support from 500 community members, plus a $250,000 grant from New York Presbyterian and a gift from nonprofit Plus1 will allow the school to continue its programming for thousands of city kids. The school held a benefit concert last Wednesday to raise $100,000 after cuts to city and state budgets and rising costs led it to cancel the remainder of its June programming and furlough several key staff members.
