Merce Lemon played Elsewhere Zone One w/ Renny Conti & wished bone (pics, setlist)
Pittsburgh-based singer-songwriter Merce Lemon has a new album, Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild, out in September, and ahead of that she has a few shows lined up this summer. She stopped in Brooklyn for a show at Elsewhere Zone One on Sunday, where her set included her lovely recent singles “Will You Do Me a Kindness” and “Backyard Lover,” and a beautiful cover of Bonnie “Prince” Billy’s “I See a Darkness.” Her earnest folk gets some noisy roughened edges from the riffs that guitarist Reid Magette was ripping throughout, and it makes for a great combination.
The Guidance Center Opens Lactation Room
North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center has opened a lactation room at the Leeds Place, which will support the needs of breastfeeding mothers in the area. Leeds Place is the Guidance Center’s facility in Westbury. It offers various services that the Guidance Center provides, including early childhood programs, counseling and education.

Floral Park-Bellerose Schools Host Summer Enrichment Program
From July 8 through August 2, the Floral Park-Bellerose Union Free School District is hosting a Summer Enrichment Program for its students. There are five programs that students may choose from, each one with various classes. One STEAM-focused program offers classes in edible sciences, coding, robotics, rocketry. Developed by Park Tower Group and Rockefeller Group, the company’s first project in Brooklyn, The Dupont will offer 381 apartments, a vast majority of which will have incredible East River and Manhattan skyline views. New Yorkers earning 80 and 130 percent of the area median income can apply for the units, priced from $1,782/month for studios to $4,001/month for two-bedrooms.
