Ville Platte man arrested after escaping from authorities multiple times
Vidrine is being held with no bond and is being charged with two counts of flight from an officer, one count simple escape, one count of criminal trespass, one count of theft, one count of cyber stalking, one count of simple assault, one count of aggravated flight, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts possession of schedule I CDS, one count of Probation and Parole violation, and one count hunting and/or taking deer during closed season.
Local Tip Leads to Car Theft Arrests
Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft announced the July 1st arrest of 25-year-old Gloria Rayann Thompson and 31-year-old Austin Loren Johnson Hedges, both of Oakdale. The arrests are the result of a joint investigation into recent car burglaries in Rosepine and on Highway 1211 in Vernon Parish. A witness provided a description of a suspicious vehicle. That information was shared by Vernon Parish authorities with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office. Deputies and detectives with the Vernon Sheriff’s Office and detectives from Beauregard Parish initiated a traffic stop and identified three suspects. Two of those suspects were determined to be responsible for the car burglaries.
MPD seeks suspect in attempted second degree murder
On March 20, around 10 p.m., a drive-by shooting took place near the 600 block of 7th street, by JD Bank, in Mamou. A brown Buick, occupied by four individuals, drove past teenagers walking home. Two of the teenagers were under the age of 14. The vehicle then stopped, and one of the occupants, identified as Christopher Paul McGee, opened fire.
