MANASQUAN — The Manasquan Seniors plan to host their annual Berry and Craft Festival in August and are seeking some extra help from the community to help pull off the popular event.

The 15th annual festival, to be held Sunday, Aug. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Squan Plaza, is in need of volunteer bakers.

The bake sale features a baked goods table run by the seniors with berry pies, breads and other berry goodies and desserts. The seniors are asking volunteers to provide baked goods of their choice to assist in the popular attraction.

The annual Berry Festival is the sole fundraiser for the seniors, and helps fund the cost of the group’s various meetings, trips and events throughout the year.

Those interested in donating homemade baked goods are asked to call event chair Pauline Evans at 917-648-1820. The seniors will supply pie pans and boxes, and they can pick up the donated goods from people’s homes.

Founded in 2005, the group of residents ages 55 and over meet on the second Tuesday of each month, except in July and August. In addition to the Berry and Craft Festival, the seniors run events and activities throughout the year including shuffleboard and bocce in town, Theatre Out at the Algonquin and Games and Activities Day.
