Shocking news is unfolding about a man from Bradenton, Florida who was engaged in a shooting rampage in Manatee County on Monday evening, resulting in the deaths of three women, including his mother and cousin. Additionally, he allegedly attempted to harm two of his former girlfriends during the incident, according to FOX13.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Javontee Brice,28, went on a deadly spree late Monday night, targeting multiple homes to carry out violent acts against his family members. Following this, he reportedly attempted to escape to Georgia to harm an ex-girlfriend, where law enforcement officers ultimately stopped him and engaged him in a fatal altercation.

According to the news outlet, around 9:17 p.m., Brice drove to the Motel 6 located at 660 67th Street Circle East in Bradenton, where his mother, her boyfriend, and two younger sisters were staying. Sheriff Wells reported that Brice entered the room where they were at, and said “I’m sorry” to his 48-year-old mother, to which she replied, “What did you do?” Following this exchange, he fatally shot and killed her.

Around 9:40 p.m., Brice arrived at the 900 block of 26th Street Court East in Palmetto, where his 29-year-old cousin was attending a cookout. As she was preparing to depart in her vehicle, Brice opened fire, injuring her. The Palmetto Police made efforts to administer life-saving aid to the woman, but tragically, she succumbed to her injuries approximately an hour later at a nearby hospital.

Subsequently, at approximately 10:04 p.m., Brice made his way to Bradenton, specifically the 4800 block of 51st Street East, where one of his ex-girlfriends resided with her new partner. There, he fatally shot and killed the new partner, as detailed by Sheriff Wells. Following this incident, investigators discovered that Brice intended to travel to Georgia to target another ex-girlfriend, prompting them to issue a statewide Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert for his vehicle.

Law enforcement officers from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, situated near the Florida-Georgia border, successfully located Brice’s vehicle and intercepted him. Upon the encounter, Brice swiftly exited his vehicle and opened fire at the deputies. In response, the deputies returned fire, resulting in Brice being shot and killed at approximately 1:30 a.m., as reported by the MCSO.

The sheriff’s office confirmed that none of the deputies sustained any injuries during the exchange of gunfire. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be providing assistance in the ongoing investigation of the incident.

“That’s what we know right now. We don’t know a motive,” Wells said. “We don’t know what set this man off. We don’t know why he chose to kill his loved ones. And we may never know, but we’re going to continue to investigate.”
