Holiday weekend weather from wet to dry and hot to comfortable
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Look for the summer weather pattern to become more fall-like as we go through the holiday weekend. How fitting, as we go from August to September, and baseball to football season. Hot and humid again Thursday with sun and clouds. Showers and storms begin by early afternoon in the mountains with isolated storms in the lowlands. Some storms could bring strong winds, perhaps some small hail. Highs in the lower to middle 90s for the lowlands with 70s in the higher terrain. Showers and storms dry up after dark with some clouds, warm, and humid. Lows generally in the 60s. As we start off the WVIHF Friday, most locations should stay dry. Isolated mountain storms for the afternoon and evening. Most lowland locations should stay dry, but a storm may move through one or two places as we approach kickoff of high school football. The Mountaineers open the 2024 season in Morgantown on Saturday. Day 2 of the festival in Clarksburg is also going on. Look for a few showers in NCWV for Saturday morning and early afternoon before numerous showers and storms roll through for the late afternoon and evening. It’s during this time frame that storms could bring strong winds to our area and some heavy rain too. Canadian air moves through on Sunday. After a few morning showers, clouds break for some sun and humidity will begin to fall. This will set up a great Labor Day with low humidity and lots of sunshine. Highs in the lower 80s. Similar conditions for Tuesday, then sun and clouds Wednesday, but still dry and still comfortable.
