MANTECA — The Manteca Police Department is using seven high-tech drones on the Fourth of July to try and crack down on anyone using illegal fireworks within city limits.Last year, the department used two drones, but now there will be more than three times that many being the eyes in the sky for any illegal fireworks popping off."It teaches people, when you used to go outside and look left and look right, now you have to look up, and decide, maybe illegal fireworks aren't good anymore and dispose of them," said Manteca Police Sergeant Steve Beermann.The drones fly up to...
Biedermann sibling trio selected to try out for US National Water Polo Team
Athletes across San Joaquin County have been working for their shot at representing the USA on one of the biggest stages of water polo. One Ripon family got their shot. Three siblings and student-athletes from Ripon High School were invited to try out for the National Team Water Polo in Brody, Reyna and Emery Biedermann. Brody took it a step further landing a spot on the United States Senior National Championships roster and will compete from now until the 2027 World Junior Championship.
Moose Boats delivers fireboat for San Joaquin Delta
(VALLEJO, Calif.) — Moose Boats has delivered a customized M3-36 monohull to the Woodbridge (Calif.) Fire District. The M3 will serve as a fireboat in the San Joaquin Delta. The build features twin 300-hp Mercury outboards with an outboard protective guard including towline guides, a tow post and an integrated towing spool. The boat has a dedicated Darley fire pump for two 1,500-gpm Typhoon RC TFT monitors, one mounted atop the cabin and one on the bow with a valve under the monitor for attack hose connection. The fire pump is powered by a Volvo Penta V8 engine.
