Manteno man accused of sexually abusing child allegedly used social media to find victim

MANTENO, Ill. — Charges have been filed against a Kankakee County man accused of sexually abusing a child and possessing child pornography.

Rockford Police say 29-year-old Davin Pafford, a Manteno resident, has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse and possession of child pornography.

The charges stem from an incident that was reported to police on March 29, 2024, when officers were contacted to investigate a report of sexual abuse to a child.

Officers with the Rockford Police Department’s Sensitive Crimes Unit later conducted a follow-up investigation and identified Pafford as a suspect.

According to police, Pafford allegedly found the victim through social media.

Officers say the charges were handed down after the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case.

Authorities obtained a warrant for Pafford’s arrest on Sunday and he was later located by Channahon police during a traffic stop.
