Body found at Elm Creek Rest Area in Maple Grove

An investigation is underway following the discovery of a body at the Elm Creek Rest Area in Maple Grove.

The body was reported to have been found in a creek around 3:35 p.m. Saturday, with a maintenance worker making the initial discovery, according to a news release from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

The Hennepin County Water Patrol responded a short time later, and a deceased adult was found in a holding pond in the area.

Along with sheriff's deputies and the water patrol team, the Maple Grove Fire Department, Maple Grove Police Department and Minnesota State Patrol also responded.

The identity of the deceased as well as their exact cause of death will be confirmed by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner in the coming days.
