No charges for the 24-year-old woman, whom Wisconsin US House Rep. Derrick Van Orden accused of assault and political violence. Kent Lovern, the chief deputy district attorney for Milwaukee County, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the evidence in the case, including police body camera footage, “is insufficient to support a criminal charge” against the Code Pink activist Nour Jaghama.
Hurt Scheduled for Court Apperance
MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — The Madison teen accused of beating a correction officer at the Lincoln Hills Youth Prison will appear in court this afternoon. Javarius Hurd will appear at 1:00 PM for an adjourned initial appearance as he faces one count of second-degree reckless homicide along with felony murder with special circumstances.
Lahti sentenced in drunk driving homicide
At a July 8, 2024, sentencing hearing in Lincoln County Court, John James Lahti, age 43, of Merrill was sentenced to 15 years in prison plus 10 years of extended supervision in the Sept. 17, 2022, death of an 8-year-old Gleason boy and the injuries to his family members, sustained when Lahti was driving drunk and crossed the center line on Hwy. 17 north of Merrill causing a head-on crash. Lahti struck a vehicle ccupied by a family of four, and the collision resulted in the death of eight-year-old Ian Skaar and serious injury to his mother, Leah Skaar, both of whom were passengers in the vehicle. Ian’s sister and his father, Tom Skaar, who was driving, also sustained minor injuries.
Full-time surveillance, lawmen sought where ballot drop boxes used
(The Center Square) – Two Wisconsin lawmakers have introduced legislation that would require cities or counties that use ballot drop boxes to have them under 24/7 video surveillance. The proposals of state Rep. Scott Krug, R-Rome, and state Sen. MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – A 45-year-old Florida man has been charged in Wisconsin for fraudulently selling jewelry as Native American-made. According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Wisconsin, Jose Farinango Muenala from Casselberry, Florida, is charged with wire fraud, mail fraud, and misrepresenting Indian-produced goods.
