US Invests $140 Million in Illinois Quantum Proving Ground.
The US Department of Defense is investing up to $140 million in a national proving ground for quantum technologies in Illinois, Governor JB Pritzker announced Tuesday. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the State of Illinois are partnering on the project, which will be based at a soon-to-be-built quantum campus in the Chicago region.

Dennis Erb, Jr. finished fifth in his heat race and second in his B-Main to earn the right to start nineteenth on the grid in the $15,000 to win ‘Billy Winn Classic.’ Dennis was then on the move early and often in the 45-lap main event and ultimately blitzed past thirteen competitors on his way to a strong sixth place effort.
Man shot, critically wounded outside Walmart in South Deering
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was shot and critically wounded outside a Walmart store Friday afternoon in the South Deering neighborhood.Police said, around 3:40 p.m., a 25-year-old man got into a fight with another person in the 10900 block of South Doty Avenue, and the other person pulled out a gun and shot him.The shooting happened outside a Walmart Supercenter store.The victim was shot in the chest and hip, and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.No one was in custody Friday afternoon.
