Would you drive on a road with 438 curves? This writer wouldn't. However, some people do because there is a winding road in Tazewell County, Virginia that is not for the faint of heart.

    Virginia State Route 16

Virginia State Route 16, also known as the Back of the Dragon, winds its way through the landscape of southwestern Virginia.

The 32-mile road winds between the two scenic towns of Marion and Tazewell and crosses Big Walker, Brushy, and Clinch Mountains.

Bikers describe the winding road as "knee dragging" because the speed limit is only 15 mph.

The view from the drive is breathtaking if you dare to take your eyes off the road to see the scenery.

    Stopping along the way

Drivers are allowed to stop along the way. They can stop for a stroll through Hungry Mother State Park in Marion, Virginia. It is the perfect place for a picnic.
