Update: Taft man on bike killed on Highway 33
A Taft man riding a bicycle on Highway 33 was killed early Monday when he was struck by a car, the California Highway Patrol said. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was riding north on Highway 33 south of Cadet Road at 12:57 a.m. when a northbound Toyota Highlander driven by Denise Arenas, 32, of Taft, approached.
Man charged with attempted murder after stabbing
A Taft man was arrested on attempted murder charges after two men were stabbed in an altercation early Sunday morning. Police said there was an argument about 4 a.m. in a house on the 700 block of San Emidio Street when the suspect used a kitchen knife to stab one victim in the chest. He second victim suffered a laceration when he tried to intervene.
