Christopher Walker of Acworth was part of the 2024 cohort of the BRIDGES Undergraduate Research Opportunity, a Mississippi State University program that connects minority and underserved students with paid work at various university research centers.

The students gain experience that helps prepare them for their next step toward the workforce or continued studies in graduate school.

Walker, majoring in biomedical engineering, conducted work at MSU's Department of Chemistry Laboratory.

BRIDGES is short for Building Relationships that Intentionally Develop Generations of Excellent Scholars. It was established by the university's Office of Research and Economic Development and the Division of Access, Opportunity and Success.
