Cobb to Consider Townhome Development off Veterans Memorial

The Cobb Planning Commission will consider a proposal for a 42-unit townhome development off Veterans Memorial Highway Tuesday.

Developer Thomas Orok is proposing a for-sale, single-family townhouse development at 1558 Veterans Memorial Highway Southwest, next to Chattahoochee Technical College’s Austell campus.

The 6.5-acre tract would have 42 two-story townhomes, with sizes ranging from 2,910 to 3,452 square feet.

According to a preliminary design plan submitted in July, the development has a maximum height of 35 feet and will include a mix of three and four bedroom homes. All townhouse units will have a two-car garage.

Orok is requesting a rezoning permit to build on the currently commercial property.

According to the rezoning application, the developers believe the proposed development will act as a transition from the detached single-family residences to commercial property at that portion of Burrus Road.

The case was originally set to be heard by the Planning Commission in March and has since been delayed multiple times.
