MARIETTA — The Cobb Board of Commissioners voted 4-0, with Chairwoman Lisa Cupid absent, during Tuesday’s zoning hearing to approve a land-use permit to allow a north Cobb church to host a weekly farmers market.

The board approved a temporary 24-month permit for St. Andrew United Methodist Church, subject that the hours of operation are from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday only, along with other stipulations.

The Blackwell Farmers Market in the parking lot of the church at 3455 Canton Road will feature regional vendors selling produce, flowers, baked goods, meats, cheeses, handmade crafts and more.

According to its website, the market will be open through Sept. 28, every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Each week, there will be between three to six volunteers and an onsite, trained manager to oversee the market, according to the church.

The church agreed to various stipulations made, including no open-flame cooking and that all vendors will comply with state and county health regulations.

Blackwell Farmers Market is currently accepting new vendors on a weekly basis.
