Homeless man assaults security guard downtown
A private security guard received a minor injury Thursday morning when a homeless man sleeping in a downtown parking structure slashed at the guard. According to the Santa Monica Police Department, the assault occurred at about 12:45 a.m. when a member of the Good Guard security team approached a homeless subject who was sleeping in Parking Structure 2 at 1235 2nd Street.

BALDWIN PARK – A man was fatally shot in Baldwin Park and an investigation into the shooting is underway Friday. Montana Branch Library adds self-service hours
The Montana Branch began offering self-service hours on Tuesday, July 9, via Open+, a comprehensive self-service model that provide controlled access to the library. Community members who are pre-approved will be able to access the branch with a swipe of their Santa Monica Public Library Card on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. – noon. Self-service hours allow users to pick up items on reserve, use the library space, access materials and resources, and use an internet computer.
