Residents of New Bern may want to be on alert due to a recent wastewater spillage. The City of New Bern announced an untreated wastewater discharge on Sunday July 21 of about 41,418 gallons from a manhole into a storm drain leading to Renny's Creek. The overflow was due to influent pumps becoming disabled from debris in the sewer system.

Man charged after search leads to largest seizure of fentanyl in ENC county’s history
MESIC, N.C. (WNCT) — A Pamlico County man was arrested on fentanyl and methamphetamine charges after a search of a home on Upper Neck Road in Mesic. This was done as part of an ongoing investigation into the selling and distributing of meth and fentanyl in the county. As a result, investigators found 2.8 pounds of meth and 1.2 pounds of fentanyl.
Sheriff: Small plane crash lands near Merrell Farms Road and N.C. 101
BEAUFORT — A small plane has crashed in Beaufort, according to Carteret County Sheriff Asa Buck. The crash occurred near the intersection of N.C. Highway 101 and Merrell Farm Road, about 4 miles from the Michael J. Smith Field airport. As of now, there is no information on the number of people on board or any reported injuries.

Driver cited after crashing into Emerald Isle ambulance
MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. — Morehead City officials say a person has been cited after crashing into an ambulance Friday evening. According to investigators Morehead City Police and Fire-EMS responded to a collision involving an Emerald Isle ambulance and car around 10 P.M. Friday evening. Authorities say that crash happened at the intersection of Highways 70 and 24. Investigators say there was only a driver in the car, and inside the ambulance there two were EIFD employees, and a patient. They also added that only minor injuries were sustained as a result of the collision.
