    Marinette girls thrash Little Chute

    2024-05-14

LITTLE CHUTE, Wis. — Offense carried the day as the Marinette girls soccer team obliterated Little Chute 9-1 in North Eastern Conference play on Monday.

Marinette improved to 5-1-1 in the NEC and 9-3-1 overall with Monday’s victory.

The Marines were at Luxemburg-Casco for their final conference game of the season on Tuesday, where a win would give Marinette its second straight North Eastern Conference championship.

Results for Tuesday’s game were unavailable at press time.

Monday’s contest was the ninth time that the Marines scored four or more goals against an opponent this year, with Marinette going 9-0-1 in those games.

Sierra Schreiner, Josie Smerchek and Chloe Seymour once again carried the scoring load for Marinette with two goals apiece, but they were far from the only Marines to put the ball into the net, as Bry Torkko, Kylie Kunick and Jada Jones all pumped in a goal.

Seymour tacked on two assists while Kunick and Schreiner each had one.

Serenity VanPool (2) and Lacy Carviou (1) combined for three saves in the net for Marinette.
