PHOTOS: Crews battle house fire in Southeast DC
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Crews were battling a fire that broke out on the second floor of a two-story home in Southeast D.C. on Wednesday afternoon. The house that caught on fire was located in the 2400 block of L’Enfant Square No injuries were reported.
Police arrest Alexandria man for felony hit and run on Duke Street that seriously injured teen
The Alexandria Police Department (APD) said Alexandria resident Earl Lucas after the man allegedly hit a teen with his car on Duke Street and fled the scene. In a release, APD said officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run around 12:26 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, at the intersection of Duke and Jordan Streets. APD said a passing motorist’s dashcam helped police identify Lucas.

RED LAKE NATION RECEIVES SMALL BUSINESS ASSITANCE FUNDS
(Washington, D.C.) — U.S. Senator Tina Smith (D-MN) has announced Red Lake Nation and Lower Sioux Indian Community were selected to receive federal funding to support small business development in their communities. The Tribes will use the funding to help small businesses access credit. The funding was awarded through the Small Business Credit Initiative. According to the Treasury Department, Red Lake Nation will use nearly $3.4 million for two programs administered by Red Lake Inc., a wholly-owned, Tribally-chartered company. One is a loan guarantee program and one an equity funds program.

Antionette Gilmore, 28, was sentenced on Tuesday to 84 months in prison for the October 2023 kidnapping of her roommate, which she perpetrated with her cousin.
