The Late Bob Bebensee Honored at 2024 Cass County Fair Horse Show
(Atlantic) The late Bob Bebensee was honored before the Cass County Horse Show started on Thursday afternoon. Bob, known as “Cowboy Bob,” passed away last summer. His family is donating a memorial bench in his honor, service, and love of the Cass County Fair. Bob’s wife, Dee, and family were on hand to unveil the bench, and Dee was the first to take a seat.
Cass County Fair Kicks off Today
(Atlantic) A complete list of activities is lined up for the Cass County Fair Today. The King and Queen Contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The Queen Candidates are Rachel Becker, Lily Johnson, Makayla Atkinson, Brooklynne Peterson, Claire Pellett, Quincy Sorensen, Ryleigh Harrison, and Olivia Olson. The King candidates are Jace Thomsen, Brock Henderson, Jack Brahms, Joaquin Wailes, and Nollan Smith.

Claire Pellett and Jack Brahms Crowned Queen and King of the 2024 Cass County Fair
(Atlantic) The Crowning of the King and Queen capped off Day One of the activities at the 75th Annual Cass County Fair on Thursday evening. Claire Pellett, a member of the Pymosa 4H club, was crowned Queen and will represent Cass County at the 2024 Iowa State Fair. Jack Brahms, a Union Leaders 4H Club member, is the 2024 Cass County Fair King.
Tiana Hagen Shows Overall Market Lamb and Breeding Ewe at the Cass County Fair Sheep Show
(Atlantic) Tiana Hagen of the CAM FFA showed the Grand Champion Market Lamb and Grand Champion Breeding Ewe at the Cass County Fair Sheep Show on Saturday morning. Hagen’s market lamb weighed 139 pounds. Reserve Champion Cooper Matheny of the Grant Guys and Gals. Morgan Will showed the reserve champion breeding Ewe. Hagen will advance to the “Best in the West” Showdown at Denison on August 1.

Atlantic’s & Council Bluffs Mayors to attend ISU College of Design, Extension and Outreach’s “Iowa Mayors’ Design Workshop,” July 30–31
AMES, Iowa — The Iowa State University College of Design, in partnership with ISU Extension and Outreach, will host the Iowa Mayors’ Design Workshop (IMDW) July 30–31 on the Iowa State campus. Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett and Council Bluffs Mayor Matt Walsh, are the only two mayors from southwest Iowa who were invited to the event. Mayors from Cedar Falls, Fort Madison, Marshalltown and Ottuwma were also extended an invitation to attend and present their projects. As we previously reported on KJAN, Mayor Garrett will be working with the College of Design’s team, on projects for Bull Creek and the Schildberg Recreation Areas.
