Kids Bike Ride set for Aug. 10th in Atlantic
(Atlantic, Iowa) – The Cass County Conservation Service reports Nishna Valley Trails is holding a Kids Bike Ride on August 10th, 2024, beginning at 10:30-a.m. The ride starts in the Schildberg Recreation Area west parking lot. Participants will check-in and start the ride at the west Rotary Shelter, at the Schildberg Rec. Area.
The Late Bob Bebensee Honored at 2024 Cass County Fair Horse Show
(Atlantic) The late Bob Bebensee was honored before the Cass County Horse Show started on Thursday afternoon. Bob, known as “Cowboy Bob,” passed away last summer. His family is donating a memorial bench in his honor, service, and love of the Cass County Fair. Bob’s wife, Dee, and family were on hand to unveil the bench, and Dee was the first to take a seat.

New Illinois Law Requires Weather Radios In Certain Homes
It's been a rough tornado season and a new Illinois law is taking aim at that. We can all agree it's been a messy summer. In the Chicago area alone last week, there were 33 tornadoes, compared to their usual 5 or 6 per year. With the derecho that moved through last week, 5 tornadoes rolled through the QCA. In Iowa, May was ridiculous. We average 11 tornadoes in May. But this year, we had over 80 tornadoes in May alone.
Quiet Overnight, Humidity Builds Through The Weekend
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Decent weather sticks around overnight, but we will be watching for an increase in humidity, warmth, and storm chances by the end of the weekend. Overnight, we get to enjoy mostly clear skies as our low temperatures fall into the 60s. Our eastern counties will cool off a bit more, into the low to mid 60s, while our western counties drop into the mid to upper 60s.
