Storms Tonight, Some Could be Severe
OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - We are monitoring the potential for strong to severe storms this evening and tonight. Between now and midnight, we will be watching scattered storms work their way across southeast Iowa and northeast Missouri. Some of these storms could become severe, with primary threats including damaging winds, large hail, and an isolated tornado. A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for the KYOU area until 11 PM. Lows overnight drop into the mid to upper 60s. Friday brings calmer weather with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures in the mid 80s to near 90. Dew points in the upper 60s will make it a rather warm and muggy day, so make sure you’re drinking plenty of water and have a way to cool off if you’re spending time outside. Lows Friday night drop into the 60s, and the weekend brings more quiet weather with partly to mostly sunny skies and cooler temperatures, in the low to mid 80s. Dew points drop as well, into the mid to lower 60s, and we keep this quiet and seasonable trend in our weather as we head into the start of next week.
