Man Threatened to Cut Neighbor’s Head Off
A Cedar Falls man has been arrested after allegedly threatening to cut off his neighbor’s head with a knife, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 36 year old Craig Waltmann has been charged with Assault While Displaying a Weapon and first degree Harassment. Waltmann allegedly began yelling at the neighbor on August 5th, shouting racial slurs and displaying a knife. Eventually Waltmann put the knife away and pretended to walk away before turning and charging at the alleged victim, shouting that he was going to cut the man’s head off. A passerby shouted that she was calling police and Waltmann went back to his home.

Erin Kerkhoff prepares for Paris, set to compete in second Paralympic Games
Eastern Iowa native Erin Kerkhoff is making final preparations before flying off to Paris to compete in her second Paralympic Games. Kerkhoff suffers from optic nerve atrophy, a condition that heavily impairs her eye sight. Despite having 20/300 vision in her right eye and 20/400 vision in her left eye, she still had a love for track and field and excelled at the sport, winning a state title for Solon before competing on Northern Iowa's track team.
Over 40 Cats from Northwest Iowa Flown to New Jersey to Ease Overcapacitated Shelters
Over 40 cats from northwest Iowa were recently flown to New Jersey to find homes due to increased flooding in the area that led to a surplus of cats in shelters. The relocation was organized by Greater Good Charities and The Animal Rescue Site. The cats, all homeless and adoptable, are from People For Pets in Spencer and the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa. They were loaded onto a plane in Sioux Falls and flown to Atlantic City.
