Two hospitalized, one dead after teenagers crash on CR 550 in Marquette

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJMN) — One teenager is dead after a single-car crash early Monday morning north of Marquette.

According to Michigan State Police, dispatchers sent first responders to a crash on County Road 550 near Middle Island Point Road around 4:45 a.m. for a report of a car crash.

When deputies arrived, they observed a single car that had crashed, throwing one of the three teenage passengers from the car.

MSP said the 16-year-old driver was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries as well as a 17-year-old passenger. We’re told an 18-year-old trapped in the back seat died at the scene.

As of now, it is unclear what caused the crash. Police say the incident remains under investigation.
