Our dogs come from high-kill shelters in economically challenged areas of rural North Carolina.

Tornado Threat Targets the Northeast Sunday
It has been very active in the Northeast this weekend as a cold front continues to move through. Severe winds (58+ mph) have topped out the storm reports, with lots of storms producing gusty, damaging winds. The front sparking these severe chances has not moved out to sea, so the threat will linger into today. Damaging winds are the biggest concern. An enhanced risk for severe storms remains in place for Sunday through Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston.

GREENBELT, Md. — The Greenbelt community is coming together to take a stand against gun violence on Saturday. Maryland Congressman Glenn Ivey and other leaders will gather to reclaim a park where five teenagers were injured as a result of a shooting that happened during an unsanctioned senior skip day for students across multiple high schools in the area.

This Virginia Hooters location now listed as 'permanently closed' on restaurant's website
MANASSAS, Va. — A casual dining chain best known for its wings recently announced it was closing dozens of its underperforming restaurants across the country. Hooters, an Atlanta-based business, cited "pressure from current market conditions" as the reason it needed to shut down operations at some restaurants. While Hooters didn't specify the exact number of restaurants it was closing, nor release a list, there are 41 Hooters locations now listed as "permanently closed" on Google, and removed from the Hooters website.
