Streator Police Dealing With "Far Too Many Domestic Incidents"
With half of 2024 in the books, many police and fire departments are using the time to reflect on their number of calls for service. In Streator, the police department reports just shy of 8,000 calls of service in the first 6 months. A number standing out to the department is 188 domestic incidents reported so far in 2024. That equates to about 1 a day in Streator. More than a dozen domestic battery arrests were made.
Undocumented Illinois residents can now get standard driver's licenses
Under provisions of a new law, undocumented residents in Illinois are now eligible to receive four-year driver’s licenses. According to HB 3882, which went into effect July 1, those residents can now receive standard licenses and identification cards instead of the previously issued Temporary Visitor’s Driver’s License.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Starting this month, 1-, 2- and 3-year-old children living in nearly 150 communities in Illinois will need their blood screened for lead, a test that wasn't previously required in those parts of the state.The Illinois Department of Public Health announced an expanded list of high-risk ZIP codes this year, including more than a dozen in Cook County, increasing mandatory testing for lead exposure of children who live within those areas.
