OSF HealthCare opens Illinois orthopedic practice
Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare has opened a new orthopedic office in Peru, Ill., according to a July 25 report from Shaw Local News Network. The Peru office will open its doors July 29, and will offer X-ray services nearby. It will be staffed by orthopedic surgeons Connor Kasik, DO, and Robert Mitchell, DO.
IVCC Youth basketball camp builds skills on court and off court
IVCC’s youth basketball camp has become a tradition in the Stokes family, passed down from father Trent to son Gavin. Lessons they have learned there stick with them. Those lessons not only boosted Trent’s successful high school and college court careers, but he still applies them now that he coaches.

In early 2022, Illinois became the second of three U.S. states to establish a commission to provide reparations for African American descendants of slavery. Through subsequent board meetings, public hearings and oversight from Gov. J.B. Starved Rock Country Community Foundation to Help Grand Ridge Secure Funds for Park
The Starved Rock Country Community Foundation is partnering with the Village of Grand Ridge to help their big plans for their city park become a reality. The Village has plans to add basketball and pickleball courts along with a splash pad at Grand Ridge Park. Along with that, enhanced lighting, bocce ball court and a horseshoe pit are in the plans for the park.
Man Sentenced on Drug Possession Charge in Grundy Co.
A 50-year-old Montgomery man was recently sentenced in a Grundy County court case. Michael Najar pled guilty to the unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a class four felony and was sentenced to two years of section 410 probation. Najar was arrested by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office in the 4200 block of Route 47 in January of 2023.
Kendall County Fair continues tradition of 4-H, families and food
The Kendall County Fair will have a four-day run next week, with three days of 4-H programs, music, grandstand events and food. While the two-year long COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the availability of carnival rides, organizers promise plenty of attractions and traditional county fair events. Volunteers needed for food giveaway event focused on post-storm relief. Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant and City of Joliet Mayor Terry D’Arcy are partnering with ShareFest Will County to host a Free Food Giveaway event from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, July 27th to support residents impacted by last week’s storms. The drive-up event will be held at the Will County Office Building located at 302 N. Chicago Street, Joliet, IL 60432.
