Palmer man charged with several aviation crimes
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - A Palmer man was charged with illegally operating an aircraft. According to the court documents, 56-year-old William Marsan, is allegedly the owner and pilot of a private aircraft in Alaska. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) received a report in June of 2023 stating Marsan did not radio his take off from Palmer, and also flew against the flow of landing traffic. This resulted in him almost causing an in-air collision with an aircraft attempting to land.
Juneau residents gather to protest officer shooting of homeless man
JUNEAU, Alaska (KTUU) - Juneau community members gathered Sunday afternoon to protest the shooting of Steven Kissack by law enforcement officers. Kissack was shot by police on July 15 after officials said he would not drop a knife he was holding. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) said Juneau police officers and an Alaska Wildlife Trooper shot Kissack with a bean bag gun when he did not comply. Kissack then appeared to charge officers, and they fired their weapons.

Searches underway for 2 missing men on Chena and Yukon rivers
A search continued Sunday on the Chena River in downtown Fairbanks where a man went missing in the water Friday, a day before a Yukon River boater was reported overdue. With prayers and Gwich’in singing, the family of Elia Ansaknok gathered Sunday morning to resume searching for his body in the Chena River. Elia’s uncle, David Solomon of Copper Center led family members in song, as Fairbanks police and Alaska State Troopers launched three boats yesterday at Graehl Landing to dredge the river below the pedestrian bridge where Ansaknok went into the river.

King Cove man charged with killing parents in Anchorage house fire
A man from King Cove is now charged with arson and murder in his parents’ deaths earlier this year following an Anchorage house fire. Joshua Gould, 46, is facing more than half a dozen charges filed Wednesday, including two counts of first-degree murder and a count of arson in the deaths of James and Kathryn Gould.
