The Marshall Police Department wants to remind residents of the city’s fireworks ordinance ahead of Independence Day celebrations this week.

Residents can use and discharge consumer fireworks from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, July 4.

The term consumer fireworks refers to any explosive devices designed primarily to produce visible or audible effects by combustion and includes aerial devices and ground devices, all of which are classified as fireworks.

Fireworks are prohibited from being discharged on public land owned by the city; within 600 feet of a church, hospital, or school; 300 feet of any permanent storage of ignitable liquid, gases, or gasoline pump/filling station; or be used or thrown from a motorized vehicle.

The City of Marshall will host a fireworks display on Thursday, July 4, at Indian Foothills Park.
