Teenager held on $1.2M bond for Marshall fatal shooting, police say

MARSHALL, Texas ( KETK ) — The Marshall Police Department said a man has been arrested in connection to a Tuesday fatal shooting.

Police arrested Curtis White, Jr., 18 of Marshall, and has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct discharge of a firearm and murder. He is being held on a $1.2 million bond.

The shooting took place at around 11:50 a.m. in the 100 block of E. Grand in Marshall on Tuesday. Officials said a white Nissan was stopped at the red light when a maroon vehicle pulled up beside it. The driver of the maroon vehicle reportedly opened fire into the Nissan before fleeing the scene.

The driver and the passenger of the Nissan were both struck and the passenger, Markel May, 20, died at the scene. The driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“Marshall Police Department Criminal Investigation Division determined that the shooter and the deceased were known to each other,” Marshall PD said.

A second vehicle at the intersection was also reportedly struck but the driver did not sustain any injuries.
