Truth be told, I’m fired up to be going to see a Foreigner tribute band playing in Monroe tomorrow night. So, I can’t even imagine how cool it was for the Clayton High School Chorus to take the stage with the actual band, Foreigner, in Raleigh on Wednesday night. Alright, let’s be honest. It was way cooler for the parents of the Clayton High School Chorus members as Foreigner has not been relevant on the modern scene in the students’ lifetime.
New trade school opening at former N.C. prison site
POLKTON, N.C. — A former prison is being transformed into a educational site, aiming at ending the cycle of intergenerational incarceration. The 5&2 Trade School is at a former prison in Anson County. This is believed to be the first prison in the United States repurposed into a trade school.
South Piedmont swears in three new trustees
MONROE – South Piedmont Community College sworn in three new members to its board of trustees on Aug. 13 at its L.L. Polk Campus. • Ron Brown, appointed by the N.C. Senate, for a term through 2028. Brown is president and CEO of State Utility Contractors in Monroe. He is currently president of the Monroe Rotary Club, chairman of Union County EDGE (Economic Development Growth Enterprise), member of the Union County Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Committee, and a member of the South Piedmont Community College Foundation Board.
