Cedar Rapids woman reportedly found at Lake MacBride State Park with drug paraphernalia, stolen weapon in her car
A Cedar Rapids woman was reportedly found with drug paraphernalia and a stolen weapon in her car while at a park near Solon. A DNR officer reports seeing an open container and a marijuana grinder inside a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe parked at Lake MacBride State Park just after 7:00 Saturday night. A search of the vehicle reportedly turned up more open containers, drug paraphernalia, a scale with white powder on it, and a gun that was later determined to be stolen.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KGAN) — Cedar Rapids Police Department is denying a rumor that claims a young girl was shot downtown on July 4 in a Facebook post. According to the post, there was a fight in the 300 block of 1st St. SW around the same time the fireworks ended. A 13-year-old girl was knocked to the ground and her head was cut. Forgery, domestic abuse suspect taken into custody
A suspect in a 2023 forgery case and a 2018 domestic abuse case is now in custody. 38-year-old Antonio McLaurin of Chicago was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 2:45 Friday morning. McLaurin is accused of depositing a fraudulent $14,222.39 check into a victim’s account using an ATM at Green State Credit Union on Mormon Trek Boulevard on July 5th of last year. Video footage reportedly shows him withdrawing money from the same account at ATMs in Cedar Rapids a short time later.
Iowa firefighter hurt in vacant factory fire while trying to find people inside
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A firefighter was hurt fighting a fire at what was supposed to be an empty factory building Friday morning. KCRG reports the Cedar Rapids Fire Department says it responded to the former Diamond V plant in the 500 block of G Ave NW in Cedar Rapids before 7 a.m. Friday. The plant has been vacant for several years but the department says firefighters saw people evacuating as they arrived and were told people were inside. That prompted firefighters to enter the building to search for people who may have been trapped.
