The Martin County Sheriff Snyder has some harsh words for one of his deputies after the man's arrest.

"I can assure the public he will never, ever work here again. And if I have my way, he will never, ever work in law enforcement anywhere in this country."

William Snyder says 26-year old Deputy Yerandy Cairo was stalking a woman he barely knew. The woman's neighbors caught Cairo at their apartment complex and he was picked up by Stuart Police.

Sheriff Snyder tells CBS 12 News that when he found out, he made a decision.

"We do everything we can to eliminate bad eggs or bad apples. In this case, one slipped by us and one is way too many."

Cairo, who joined the Sheriff's Office two years ago, had been on paid leave but is now on unpaid suspension while he awaits a court appearance next month.
