MARTINSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 15-year-old out of Martinsburg has been remanded to a juvenile detention center after leading deputies on a high-speed chase.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office , at approximate 12:24am on Sunday, July 28, 2024, Sergeant Wolfe with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Dodge Durango for a traffic infraction on Winchester Avenue in Berkeley County .

The driver of the vehicle failed to adhere to the commands of law enforcement, fleeing in a reckless manner and driving erratically eastbound of Payne’s Ford Road.

After entering Heritage Hills, the vehicle came to a stop on Obadiah Street at which point Sergeant Wolfe exited his vehicle and instructed the driver to turn the vehicle off. The suspect then resumed driving, eventually reaching the bottom of a ravine where three individuals were observed running on foot.

The three individuals eventually returned to the vehicle and requested medical assistance. All three individuals were identified as 15-year-old juveniles, and their guardians were contacted before they were transported to Berkeley Medical Center to receive treatment.

The driver of the vehicle was determined to have been wearing an ankle monitor and to have been placed on home confinement as the result of a previous arrest. This juvenile was taken into custody for Fleeing with Reckless Indifference and was remanded to the Vickie Douglas Juvenile Detention Center.
