Edwardsville to soon welcome ‘all things pickleball’
What has been deemed as America’s fastest growing sport is headed to Edwardsville, and in a big way. SmashHouse, a premier pickleball tournament facility, is coming to the southeast corner of the new 95-acre Park North commercial development located at the Interstate 55 and IL-143 interchange. Park North is just north of and adjacent to the Plummer Family Park and will include other sports and family attractions as well as new lodging facilities and other ancillary visitor services.
Former Oiler Jayden Ulrich makes Olympics in discus
21-year old Jayden Ulrich from East Alton (IL) has qualified for the USA track and field national team for the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer in the discus throw event. Ulrich finished 2nd in the discus throw at the U.S. Olympic team trials last week. Her 2nd place throw was 62.63m (205-feet, 5-inches).

Wentzel earned a promotion from the second team after strong appearances for the senior team. St. Louis CITY SC signed defender Michael Wentzel to a first-team contract through the end of 2024 with club options in 2025 and 2026.
