St. Louis Fire Department responds to hundreds of calls on July 4
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The St. Louis Fire Department responded to over 600 calls between 8 a.m. July 4 and 8 a.m. July 5, according to the department. The fire department released statistics Friday afternoon of its responses for the past four years. In 2024, the department responded to a total of 630 calls, including 87 fires and 289 emergency medical responses.

Larry Morris named to new role with Kranzberg Arts Foundation
Larry Morris has been named the director of programs and partnerships for the Kranzberg Arts Foundation. Morris joined the foundation in May 2022 as the director of artist residency. During his tenure, he worked to elevate the Kranzberg Artist in Residency program, contributed as a committee and staff member to the growth of Music at the Intersection, and formed and maintained partnerships for the foundation in the St. Louis region.
Marine Carousel Closed Until Further Notice
MARINE — The Marine Village Board met early on July 3 at 4 pm in recognition of the July 4th holiday. During public comment, Lynn Scherer said the bat house for the lake is ready to be installed on a pole made from an oak tree that died in the Lake Park. John Molitor informed the board that the stop signs and poles need to be replaced at Marion and Nebraska Streets due to being faded. Mayor Kelly Tracy reminds residents that when approaching an intersection with no stop signs, it is a yield in all directions.

More people are being hit and killed by cars on New Halls Ferry Road. The St. Louis County Police Department and the Missouri Department of Transportation have partnered this year to protect pedestrians and try to decrease the number of deadly crashes. Due to the success of the first “Mobile DMV” offering at Alton City Hall, three more have been scheduled, including one for this coming Tuesday.
