Focal Pointe names John Combs as director of irrigation, water management
Focal Pointe, a landscape services provider, announced that long-time irrigation manager John Combs has been promoted to director of Irrigation and Water Management. Combs has an impressive track record and a wealth of expertise, with over 10 years of experience at Focal Pointe in landscape irrigation, irrigation technology, and irrigation training. In his new role, he will oversee and support irrigation and water management operations across the Focal Pointe organization. He is an Irrigation Association Certified Irrigation Technician, and pursuing certifications in irrigation auditing and water management.

FARMINGTON, Mo. (KFVS) - Another bear was spotted in Missouri, this time in Farmington. According to Missouri Department of Conservation Lt. Christopher Doran, the black bear was seen by multiple people in Farmington on Saturday, July 27. Person dies from fall at Starved Rock State Park: Illinois DNR
One person died from a fall on Saturday at Illinois Canyon inside Starved Rock State Park in LaSalle County, authorities said. One person sustained fatal injuries in a fall at around 4:30 p.m., according to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The circumstances surrounding the fall remained unclear Saturday evening.
Man drowns in Meramec River near Eureka
EUREKA, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A man was the victim of a drowning Saturday afternoon on the Meramec River near Eureka. Eureka Fire Protection District told First Alert 4 that first responders were dispatched at 1:04 p.m. to a reported drowning near the Highway 109 bridge over the Meramec River.

Illinois drivers have ways to save as fuel taxes skyrocket
(The Center Square) – High gas taxes make saving money more challenging for drivers in the Land of Lincoln. Illinois consumers are taxed 47 cents per gallon since the state’s motor fuel tax increased 3.5% on July 1. This is 147% more than drivers were taxed in 2017, when the tax was 19 cents per gallon.
