    Lamar Alexander Scholarships awarded to Maryville High School's Coston Autry, Mohib Ahmed

    Maryville High School last week awarded seniors Coston Autry $25,000 and Mohib Ahmed $15,000 in Lamar Alexander Scholarships.

    Finalists Arowyn Casenhiser, Reagan Moss and Emma Simms each received $1,000.

    All five were among 15 Senior Scholars honored this year, along with Ana Elam, Sullivan Matzek, Ophelia McQueen, Alice Morrison, Katherine O’Boyle, Livia Odoi, Patrick Qiu, Allison Shore, Thomas Tisdale and Lauren Turner.

    Junior Scholars recognized for outstanding achievement this year are Sarah Ashmore, Taniya Bharwad, Andrew Carver, Blanton Dietz, Kayla Hayes, James Irvine, Keith Kirk, Jack Matzek, Anna Claire Pinkerton, Sophia Roberts, Barrett Roberts, Avery Thomas, Aiden Thomas, Danica Wight and Madeline Yalove.

    MHS faculty choose the scholarship winners from among top students who have shown leadership and integrity.

    The scholarships are named for the former U.S. senator and Tennessee governor, who graduated from MHS in 1958. An an endowment for the scholarships was created by a grant from the Lockheed Martin Charitable Award Fund, after Alexander served on the company’s board.
