Groveland, Florida, – Vanessa Waite, a middle school student from Groveland and she has become the fastest middle school girl in the United States. She is gearing up to represent Powerhouse Athletics at the 2024 AAU Track and Field Junior Olympics in Greensboro, North Carolina. The event, scheduled from July 29th to August 3rd, will see Vanessa competing in the 100-Meter, 200-Meter, and 4 x 100 Meter Relay.

On Monday, July 22, the Leesburg City Commission unanimously approved the implementation of speed cameras in school zones, a measure aimed at enhancing safety for students and pedestrians. This decision is part of a newly enacted ordinance towards improving traffic safety around schools in the city. They are the second in the county to add this feature.

OUC recently hosted an engaging Youth Energy Academy, offering local students a hands-on experience to explore careers in the utility industry. Around 65 students from Osceola, Orange, Seminole, and Lake counties participated in interactive learning sessions at OUC’s Conway Water Treatment Plant.
