LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– Two teens are in custody after leading officers on high-speed chases through two counties. The chase ended when the car the two 17-year-olds were driving crashed near a roundabout in Delhi Township.

The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that the Bath Township Police Department was in pursuit of a Dodge Challenger around 3:30 a.m. on US-127 near Trowbridge Rd.

However, the Bath Township Officer said they lost the Dodge Challenger near the Jolly Rd and Dunckel exit, officials from Ingham County reported in a news release. After the Bath Township officer lost the Dodge Challenger, an Ingham County deputy, who had not been involved in the chase with the vehicle, reported seeing the car going south on US-127 to Cedar St. in Mason.

Shortly after the US-127 sighting, a Mason police officer identified the car as it pulled into a gas station parking lot. The Mason officer tried to make contact with the driver, but the teens sped off on North Cedar St.

The driver led Mason PD on a high-speed chase and continued through Delhi Township.

Ingham County officials say in a news release the driver crashed and totaled the car near the roundabout at Cedar St. and Holbrook Dr.

The 17-year-old driver from Tuscola County and the 17-year-old passenger from Jackson were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.

The driver was taken to the Ingham County Youth Center with possible felony charges of fleeing and eluding police and carrying a concealed weapon. The driver was also cited for being a minor in possession of both marijuana and alcohol.

The passenger was cited for marijuana and alcohol.
