1 wounded in shooting at Matteson Amazon fulfillment center

A woman was wounded in shooting at an Amazon fulfillment center in south suburban Matteson Sunday, Matteson police said.

Matteson police responded at 9:30 p.m. . at the facility at 7001 Vollmer Road, police said.

A 33-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to her head and was transported to Advocate Christ Hospital for a non-life-threatening injury, police said.

According to a preliminary investigation, police said the shooting was likely retaliation for an unreported fight that occurred in the parking lot earlier in the night among workers.

Employees could be seen leaving the facility after the situation unfolded. None of them gave any details as to what happened inside.

Matteson police said the scene was processed by detectives who continue to investigate the matter as an isolated incident. Police said there is no immediate threat to homes or businesses in the area.

This isn't the first-time police have responded to this amazon fulfillment center. Two years ago, there was an altercation in the parking lot that led to gunfire, but police said no one was hurt.

ABC7 has reached out to Amazon for comment. So far, no one has responded.
