One of three people arrested for their part in a shooting in downtown Columbia is scheduled for trial. Kalvin Johnson, 20, of Sikeston, was scheduled Monday for a jury trial to begin October 1. Johnson is charged with first-degree assault resulting in serious physical injury, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.
SEMO man arrested for motorcycle theft
A Marston, Missouri man has been arrested for stealing a motorcycle and other charges following a traffic stop last week in Portageville, Missouri. 46-year-old Christopher Long faces several felonies for stealing a motor vehicle, tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree, possession of a controlled substance, and driving with a suspended license. Long was arrested by Portageville Police after being spotted driving the motorcycle on Highway 61 on Tuesday, July 13th where he was also in possession of narcotic-related items. He’s being held on $5,000 bound.

Good afternoon, Heartland, the below average temperatures continue, with highs today in the mid 80s. We are tracking chances for isolated showers this afternoon and into the early evening. The main hazards for any storms would be brief, heavy downpours, and lightning. Chances for severe weather are unlikely, but a stray, stronger storm could be generated. Heading into Tuesday, we look at similar conditions, with low chances for pop up showers and isolated storms, most likely in the afternoon and early evening. By Wednesday, temperatures begin to climb, as well as rain chances. Thursday has more chances of evening thunderstorms.
