Franchisee closes on land for first Southern Classic Chicken location in Lafayette
Construction could begin soon on the Southern Classic Chicken location in Lafayette. Jessie Fontenot with JA Fontenot Enterprises closed on a deal to purchase the 2.85 acres at 4603 Johnston St. for the popular quick-serve restaurant along with a Scooter’s Coffee location and another development to be announced later, Fontenot said.

Jim Deggy's Brick Oven Pizza and Brewery opened its Lafayette location on May 9, but the brewing took a little longer to get off the ground. That's because wastewater runoff restrictions prohibit full-scale breweries from operating in the downtown development district.
