Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... Volleyball: The PCA Lady Raiders opened their 2024 campaign with a 3 – 1 record through their first four games. Pungo dropped its opening match against Arendell Parrott Academy but has since won three straight with victories over TEACH, Crossroads Christian and Epiphany School. Anna Stoop (six) and Bristol Cutrell (four) lead the team in service aces per match. Raylee Lynch (14) and Julia Rouse (12) lead the team in kills. Stoop is also the team leader in assists with 28.5 per match. PCA travels to Unity Christian and Cape Hatteras this week.
NCDOT gives timeline update on Dickinson Avenue project
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - If you drive around downtown Greenville often, you’ve probably had to take a detour due to the construction, which could be the case for a while. “We’re improving a lot of the waterline utilities in the area sidewalk. We’re doing a lot of landscaping with it, adding benches, trashcan receptacles, and stuff like that. Upgrading the drainage that hadn’t been upgraded in 100 years,” said Jason Beasley, the NCDOT Resident Engineer.
Skimming devices threaten businesses in the east
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is in search of two suspects who they say placed a skimming device at a Dollar General store. According to their Facebook page, the device was working for four days from July 26th to the 30th, potentially putting the information of credit and debit cards at risk.

Following another fatal high-speed chase in Spring Lake, former law enforcement officers are spreading the word about a new alert system they've developed.Tim Morgan founded the company Pursuit Alert, a warning system that allows law enforcement to notify people about ongoing high-risk situations, nearby emergencies and road hazards. Morgan served in law enforcement for 37 years; he left his role as assistant sheriff for Pickens County in South Carolina in 2012.The company has developed an app called Digital Siren for drivers, where they receive alerts about nearby high-speed pursuits.
