A Mayer man is dead after a single car crash in Hollywood Township on Monday, according to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded just after 5 a.m. on June 24 to a 9-1-1 call reporting a vehicle crash on Co. Rd. 122, near the intersection of Co. Rd. 21.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies located a 2013 BMW M5 crashed in the north ditch of Co. Rd. 122. According to the deputies, the driver – identified as 20-year-old Teigan John Martin of Mayer – was pronounced dead at the scene and was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

According to law enforcement’s preliminary investigation, Martin was eastbound on Co. Rd. 122 at a high rate of speed, crossed into the westbound lane and proceeded to enter the ditch on the north side of the road. The vehicle rolled after entering the ditch.

The sheriff’s office considers speed to be a factor in the crash. Martin was wearing a seatbelt, according to the sheriff’s office, but it is unknown if alcohol was involved. An autopsy will be completed by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.

The incident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
