Mountain Lakes Triathlon Results: Cardoso, Sass Zip to Wins
GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. — Paulo Cardoso and Kirsten Sass captured top honors Saturday morning in the 37th Mountain Lakes Triathlon. The field of almost 150 athletes and 118 finishers from eight states had a swim in Lake Guntersville, then a loop ride along the lake before finishing with a lakeside run. The event offered Olympic and Sprint divisions. Olympic athletes had a 1,200-yard swim, 34.2-mile bike ride and 6-mile run. The Sprint included a 600-yard swim, 16.2-mile ride and 3-mile run.

Customers Cause Trouble at Philly Businesses
PHILADELPHIA, Miss.–Two different customers caused trouble at two Philadelphia businesses in separate incidents Friday. Both incidents were just after 6 p.m. A man was caught shoplifting at the Philadelphia Walmart. He was being held by the store manager as the loss prevention person called police. Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands (AWMH), continues its multimillion-dollar investment in critical workforce programs at community colleges nationwide. Two-Car Wreck Near Philadelphia; Injury Reported at Neshoba Co. Fair
PHILADELPHIA, Miss.–A two-car wreck was reported at the intersection of Hwy. 21 and Hwy. 488 in Neshoba County Friday night. The wreck was called in just after 10 p.m. The caller told dispatchers there were injuries. When deputies arrived they talked to the people involved, who refused medical treatment.
Car Crashes During Brief Police Chase in Carthage
CARTHAGE, Miss.–A car crashed on Red Dog Rd. in Carthage Saturday night as it was being pursued by a Leake County deputy. About 10:15 a deputy called in to dispatch that he had spotted a car that appeared to be driving recklessly on Hwy. 35 near Red Dog Rd., just outside the Carthage city limits.
